You Can’t Exercise Through a Bad Diet

Regular exercise has always been a part of my identity. Whether it be playing sports or lifting weights, I make it a priority to try to work out as regularly as possible. This has bode well for me as the empty calories I would consume in my twenties and thirties would just fall right off.

Now I am in my forties and I still work out regularly, but the empty calories I consume don’t fall off and instead hang on to me for dear life. I am not special, nor am I being punished, it is just that my poor eating and drinking habits have caught up to me.

Unfortunately I have had to adjust my diet in order to lose the excess weight I allowed myself to gain. However, since having a healthy diet is not a part who I am, I am having to make adjustments and develop it into a regular habit. This is not so easy, and I am very inconsistent with execution because I am having to put effort into making good dietary decisions day in and day out.

Maybe this is a blog about the importance of diet, but now I think this is about the importance about making good habits a part of your identity. Both of these points are critical in order to live the healthy lifestyle we all aspire to become. So please make a good diet a part of who you are, and do it as early as possible. Your older self will appreciate it, and you will be in much better shape as a result.
