The Core of Positivity is Exercising Every Day

There are good days, bad days, and in between days. Sometimes you can control what life throws at you, and sometimes you can’t. However, if you exercise in some magnitude no matter what day it may be, you did something positive and moved the growth dial forward.

I remember when I was in my twenties and the pharmaceutical company I was doing sales for went out of business. It was horrific because not only did I lose my job, I also had to give back my company car. Then considering that I didn’t have a job, I had no way of obtaining a loan to buy a new car. My father ended up driving from Florida to South Carolina, picking me up and taking me back to Florida, and putting the car and loan in his name for a Mitsubishi Gallant. I made every single payment for that car on my own, but I had a Florida license plate that I couldn’t change out until the car was paid off.

I was out of work for six months after that, and it was depressing. My father called me every day to make sure I was in positive spirits. His biggest recommendation to me was to exercise every day. He let me know that I will find another job, and in the meantime exercising will help make every day a positive day. So I did, at first it was my regular one hour in the gym, then because I had the extra time I added additional exercise like running long distances and taking an ab class (still have never seen an ab on me in my life). Over time I was not only getting in better shape, but I became more positive and confident, which that translated into me finding another job.

Mindset matters, and I believe that getting into a daily exercise routine supported that mind set. I have had some highs and lows in my life, but when I make daily exercise a priority it seems to be the foundation for generating the positive energy I need to move forward. I hope that exercise can bring you the same joy it brings me, and the positive mindset that comes with it over time.
