Do Something You Love
Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it does make life a lot easier. However, if you are miserable with your career it is hard to have enough money to overcome being miserable (this happened to me). For the average adult, your job is what you spend the majority of your day doing. So I recommend asking yourself if you enjoy your job, and if not then look within yourself to find out what you love and work towards a career that moves in that direction.
To be great at something it helps to be passionate about it. In order to be great then you have to invest the time and energy necessary to be the best you can be, and if you don’t like it then most people will only do the bare minimum. Doing the bare minimum in life is not very satisfying, especially when you know you are capable of more.
So if you start with something you love you have a better chance to put in the extra time to grow. As you get stronger, the more in demand you will become. The more in demand you become the better chance that the money will come to you.
I have found this to be a more satisfying path, as one can never have enough money. Setting a monetary expectation is setting oneself up for disappointment, but working towards being the best at something makes every day exciting to get up and take another step forward.
As Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “Accomplishments will prove to be a journey, not a destination.” I look forward to going on this journey with you. Starting with your passion is the best possible foundation you can make.
