Friends Make Mistakes and Then Make It Right
My father recently threw away a 65 year friendship due to his best friend not agreeing with his politics, and decided to do this the week before the election. I know that this election was very polarizing, but the man I consider to be my hero made a huge mistake that not only devastated his buddy but also the two families involved that have known each other for our entire life.
My father is wrong, and there is no way around that. However he is still my hero if he can admit that he was wrong and apologizes. Because to me that is what a hero is, someone that always does their best to do the right thing. It is just ironic that in this case my father has to rectify a mistake that he made in the first place.
However, I do believe that everyone will forgive him if he apologizes. The positive side of this is that it has made me reconnect with this family I consider my uncle, aunt, and cousins. Then I am hoping that we will all get together in Charleston, SC soon and really reconnect.
I hope that anyone reading this knows that it is ok to make a mistake, but please don’t allow your ego to prevent you from making it right. Please keep your fingers crossed for my family and for my hero as well. I really really hope he does the right thing.
